Chris Colfer's Bigscreen Debut!

"Glee" star Chris Colfer is looking to be "Struck by Lightning," making his bigscreen debut by toplining the indie coming-of-age comedy that's been set up with David Permut ("Youth in Revolt").

Colfer also wrote the script for "Lightning," which is to be shot during the "Glee" hiatus next summer. Permut plans to attach a director and other cast before going out to financiers in the new year.


The script, Permut said, captures the spirit of movies penned by the late John Hughes."

Colfer received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel in "Glee."

Glenn Rigberg, who manages Colfer, will exec produce, and Steve Longi, Permut's VP of production, will co-produce. Rigberg exec produced HBO's "You Don't Know Jack."

Permut's currently producing the Sam Kinison biopic at HBO Films with Tom Shadyac, who's also attached to direct, and a feature film based on the life of John De Lorean, currently being written by Adam Mazer.
