Murphy said at the UK premiere of Eat Pray Love last night: "We've premiered in the US now and we've already had an indication of how popular the second series is.
"I looked at the iTunes chart this morning and five of the top ten songs are Glee songs. I think that proves the sheer popularity of the show, which I'm thrilled with."
Gwyneth Paltrow, Javier Bardem and Britney Spears are all due to appear on the program.
